This week at the market- Salt & Sundry

A weekend at home during this crazy summer means lots of catching up on errands, cleaning, and laundry.  It also meant time for some DC adventures, including the Red, White, and Blueberry event at Salt & Sundry.  S&S is an adorable home goods shop in Union Market, where all of the goods are chosen for the shop by its owner Amanda McClements (some of which is even made by her dad) and just exude a casual yet tailored style.

The snacks included handpies from Jenna Huntsburger at Whisked! and mini tarts from Emily Robins at Goldilocks Goodies.  Everything was made with delicious seasonal fruit and veggies, including sweet (caramel apple) and savory (goat cheese) hand pies, and gluten free one bite cherry tarts.

For tipples they had a delicious gin and blueberry cocktail, which I neglected to get a picture of as I was too busy drinking it while looking at removable wallpaper, as well as ice cold prosecco and delicious blueberry sodas.

Summer Sundays call for icy prosecco

The shopping was just as fabulous as the nibbles and sips, with all sorts of quirky home goods to be used in fun ways.DSC_0086

These dishes are essential for a Moroccan themed dinner party!

I ended up walking away with one of these gorgeous Turkish towels, which I think will be the perfect traveling picnic blanket for next month’s West Coast roadtrip.

I also snagged new bamboo cooking tools, and ceramic fruit baskets which I am sure will make my farmer’s market finds more delicious.

Thanks to Amanda, Emily, and Jenna (along with their small army of helpers) for a fantastic Sunday afternoon!
